The Spartanburg Southside Lions Club is a proud affiliate of Lions Clubs International, which is the largest service organization in the world. With 1.46 million members that serve over 45,000 clubs in over 210 countries and geographical areas. We are a nonprofit organization committed to serving our communities without personal or financial gain. Lions are best known for their efforts to eradicate preventable blindness and to provide financial assistance to those who are less fortunate. Our motto is, "WE SERVE."
In an effort to meet the ever-growing needs of those who are less fortunate, SPARKLE CITY RHYTHM AND RIBS was born. This fundraiser provides an avenue for our club to recycle monies back into the community through our viable service projects. Proceeds from the festival not only benefit other locally based nonprofit organizations, but also help to fund our service projects, which include Backpack Buddies, SC School for the Deaf and Blind, Spartanburg Soup Kitchen, Miracle Hill Ministries, Stand Down Veterans Program, and aid to the elderly. The Spartanburg Southside Lions Club was chartered in May 2011 and was the first African American club to ever be chartered in the state of South Carolina. Since our chartering, we have worked tirelessly to make an impact in this community, because the need for assistance is great. In the words of Helen Keller, "Alone we can do so little, but together, we can do more." As our partners, let's work together to do more!
